Set up your public page address

1. **Host your first page** if you haven't already. Paste HTML directly from an AI chat or upload a zip/folder — see [Paste HTML from an AI Chat and Host It](/help/getting-started/paste-html-from-an-ai-chat) and the [pas

Who it's for

  • New HTMLPUT users who want a personal landing page to showcase their hosted work
  • Creators who already have pages published and want one shareable public URL
  • Anyone who prefers a single branded address over sending individual share links

Steps

  1. Host your first page if you haven't already. Paste HTML directly from an AI chat or upload a zip/folder — see Paste HTML from an AI Chat and Host It and the paste vs. upload decision guide to pick the right method. You'll need at least one published page before a public page can display anything.
  2. Sign in and go to your History. Every account has a public page slot waiting even before you add content.
  3. Open the public page editor from the toolbar. In the address field, type the slug you want — for example myname becomes htmlput.com/u/myname. Pick something short and memorable as this address cannot be changed once set..
  4. Click Claim address. If the slug is available you'll get a confirmation; if it's taken you'll be prompted to try another variant.
  5. Edit your public page profile to add a cover image, bio, and social links. This is what visitors see before they click into any of your hosted pages.
  6. Add a hosted page to your public page from your History. Repeat for each project you want listed.
  7. Test the live address in an incognito window to confirm it loads correctly and shows the pages you added.

Gotchas

  • Your public page address is not the same as a share link. Share links (understand your share link) point to a single page and can include passwords. The public page address is a permanent profile for all your hosted work.
  • If visitors see a marketing home or the wrong page instead of yours, check that you've added at least one hosted page and that the page isn't password-gated — see Share link shows the marketing home or wrong page.
  • Keep your account email current and verify it early; unverified accounts can lose access to their public page and any hosted content.
