Visitors Cannot Open Your Public Page

Visitors Cannot Open Your Public Page

Who it's for

  • Page owners who see a 404 or blank page when visitors try to open the public page
  • Users who have recently changed the page’s access settings or deleted a hosted page
  • Anyone troubleshooting after a share link was sent

Steps

  1. Confirm the public page address is correct and active. Open your public page from the dashboard and verify it loads. If it does not, see Set up your public page address to re‑enable it.
  2. Check that at least one hosted page is attached to the public page. Go to History, locate the public page entry, and use Add a Hosted Page to Your Public Page if the list is empty.
  3. Verify the page’s access setting is set to Public. Open the page’s settings via the host toolbar and ensure the toggle is not on Password or Private. Refer to Choose Public vs Password Access for a Page for details.
  4. Look for a recent ban or moderation action. If the page was disabled, you can submit an appeal using Submit an appeal when your page is blocked.
  5. If visitors still see the marketing home or a wrong page, the share link may be pointing to an outdated URL. Review Share link shows the marketing home or wrong page and regenerate the link.
  6. Clear browser cache or try an incognito window to rule out local caching issues.
  7. If the problem persists, consult the guide on fixing 404/403 errors for hosted pages: Fix 404 and 403 Errors on Your Hosted Pages.

Gotchas

  • Deleting the last hosted page attached to a public page leaves the public page empty, causing a 404 for visitors.
  • Changing a page’s access to Password after sharing a public link will block visitors who do not have the password.
  • Public page appeals can take up to 24 hours; during that time visitors will see a blocked page notice.
