Send a password-gated client preview before launch

Send a password-gated client preview before launch

Who it's for

  • Designers and developers who need a quick, private preview for a client
  • Agencies and freelancers handing off a landing page before it goes live
  • Anyone who wants to keep a work‑in‑progress page off the public web

Steps

  1. Create or upload the page – Paste your HTML directly or upload a zip/folder if the preview includes assets. Choose the method that matches your workflow (When to paste vs upload).
  2. Add a password – Open the page in History, click Access, and set a password. The password is required for every visitor (Set a password on a page).
  3. Copy the share link – The generated link is the only way to reach the page. It stays the same unless you delete the page (Understand your share link).
  4. Deliver the link and password securely – Send the URL and password through a trusted channel (encrypted email, password manager, or a secure messaging app).
  5. Confirm the client can open it – Ask the client to open the link and enter the password. If they see a blank page or a 404, check the troubleshooting guide for share‑link issues (Cannot open a share link).

Gotchas

  • Passwords are case‑sensitive; share the exact characters you set.
  • The share link does not expire on its own — only deleting the page revokes access.
  • Free accounts have a storage quota; large asset bundles may hit the limit (Upload quota for bundles).
