Set or change a password on a hosted page
Use password protection when hosting or later from History Edit for paste pages.
Who it's for
- Hosts sharing drafts with a small group before going public
- Portfolio or resume pages that should not be fully public
- Anyone who received unexpected password prompts and wants to fix access
Steps
- When hosting — On the home page paste tab, enable Password protect and enter a visitor password before Host now.
- After hosting — In History, open Edit on a paste page, switch between public and password, and save.
- Share carefully — Send the same share link plus the password out of band (chat or email).
- Visitor view — Visitors see a password gate before your HTML loads (see snippet).
- Turn off — Disable protection in Edit to make the page public again.

Gotchas
- Password protection applies to the hosted page URL, not your HTMLPUT login password.
- There is no per-viewer account—anyone with the password can open the page.
- Zip/folder sites: change title or password with More → Re-upload in Uploads. Paste pages use Edit in History.
