What claim codes are
Claim codes (cl_…) let visitors unlock a public work—different from storage redeem codes and page passwords.
Claim codes let a signed-in visitor unlock one of your public works with a one-time cl_… code—not a plan upgrade and not a page password.
Who it's for
- Creators listing works on a public page who want gated claims
- Visitors who received a
cl_…code and need to know what it does - Anyone mixing up claim codes with storage redeem codes
Steps
- Know the product name — In the product UI these are Claim codes. Some URLs still say
work-codes; the meaning is the same. - See how creators use them — A creator lists a work on their public page, turns on require-claim, then generates codes from Claim codes using claim credits. Details: Generate and manage claim codes.
- See how visitors redeem — The visitor opens the work share link (
/p/…), signs in, enters the code, and consents. Details: Redeem a claim code. - Do not confuse storage redeem — Storage redeem codes change or extend a storage plan (see Redeem a storage code). Claim codes never add hosting quota.
- Do not confuse page passwords — A password gate controls who can view the page. A claim code controls who can claim the work after (or instead of) viewing rules on that listing.
- Read the policy anchors — Billing and consent details live in Terms and Privacy; pack prices are on Pricing.
Gotchas
- Codes look like
cl_…; other code formats on HTMLPUT usually mean storage redeem, not claim. - Claim credits (lifetime, monthly free, packs) are separate from storage quota on Pricing.
- Help never invents tip jars, marketplaces, or email blasts around claim codes.
