Host HTML from the Chrome extension
Install the HTMLPUT Chrome extension, sign in, then host a selection or paste HTML for a share link without leaving the tab.
Install the HTMLPUT Chrome extension, sign in once, then host selected content or paste HTML to get a share link without opening the site first.
Who it's for
- People who want a share link from text or HTML already open in Chrome
- Anyone copying a full page from ChatGPT, Claude, or similar tools
- Users who already host on the home page and want the same result from the toolbar
Steps
- Install the extension — Add HTMLPUT from the Chrome Web Store (search for HTMLPUT, or open the listing from www.htmlput.com/extension). Pin it if you want the toolbar icon visible.
- Sign in — Click the toolbar icon. If you see Sign in, open Sign in in a normal tab, then return to the extension. Hosting uses your existing HTMLPUT session cookie—no separate password in the extension. New accounts: Create an account and host your first HTML page.
- Right-click to host — On any page, select the text or HTML you want, open the context menu, and choose Host on HTMLPUT. A card appears with your share link when hosting succeeds.
- Paste & Host — Copy HTML from an AI chat (same idea as Paste HTML from an AI chat), open the toolbar popup, and click Paste & Host. The extension reads the clipboard only after that click—not in the background.
- Open or copy the link — Use Copy or Open on the success card. Manage pages later in History (Sign in and use History). Who can open the URL: Understand your share link.
Gotchas
- You must be signed in; guests see a login prompt instead of a share link.
- If the popup has no Paste & Host button, update the extension—older store builds only include right-click host.
- Selection or clipboard content goes to HTMLPUT only when you choose Host or Paste & Host; uninstalling stops further reads (see Privacy).
