Zip or folder upload failed: sizes, counts, and file types
Fix a rejected zip: wrong type for your plan, too many files, or over the size limits on Pricing.
A zip or folder can fail for size, file count, or a type your plan does not include—not only because the archive is “too big.”
Who it's for
- Users whose zip or folder errors before hosting completes
- Developers whose export includes extra types or huge assets
- Anyone hitting a plan file-count or media-type cap
Steps
- Read the error — Note whether it mentions size, file count, or a disallowed type.
- Check index.html — Include
index.htmlat the package root (or one wrapper folder). See Upload a zip or folder site. - Match your plan’s formats — HTML, CSS, JS, images, and fonts on every plan; audio from Plus (mp3, wav, ogg, m4a); video on Ultra (mp4, webm). Fonts are allowed—do not strip them just to “trim types.”
- Shrink sizes — Free is 1 MB per file / 3 MB total; paid plans go higher on Pricing. Compress images or split projects.
- Count files — Free 5, Plus 20, Pro 50, Ultra 80. Remove build artifacts. Re-uploading an existing site uses the same current-plan cap; already-hosted pages stay live.
- Retry — Re-select the zip or folder on the home page upload tab. New here? Create an account and host your first page.
Gotchas
- One disallowed file fails the entire upload—fix the package before retrying.
- To update an existing bundle, use More → Re-upload in Uploads; the share link stays the same.
- If the message is about account storage, not one zip, see Upload quota for bundles.
