Understand Page Bans and Violation Scores
Users whose hosted page was blocked or banned Users reviewing their account standing after receiving a violation notice Anyone wanting to understand what triggers content restrictions
Who it's for
- Users whose hosted page was blocked or banned
- Users reviewing their account standing after receiving a violation notice
- Anyone wanting to understand what triggers content restrictions
Steps
- Check your page status — Open History and look for any page marked as "banned" or showing a warning indicator.
- Review the violation reason — If a reason is shown, it typically points to content that violated our Terms of Service — such as spam, malware, phishing, or copyright issues.
- Understand your violation score — Repeated violations increase your score. Higher scores may lead to stricter restrictions or longer bans.
- Remove the offending content — Delete the hosted page to remove the problematic content and demonstrate good faith.
- Submit an appeal — If you believe the ban was an error, use the moderation appeal form to request a human review.
- Wait for the review — Our team typically responds within 48 hours. Avoid re-hosting similar content while your appeal is pending.
- Prevent future violations — Review our terms and ensure future pages follow content guidelines.
Gotchas
- Violation scores are account-wide — a ban on one page can affect your ability to host other content.
- If your page uses password protection, make sure it wasn't used to hide violating content.
- Banned pages are not recoverable unless your appeal is approved.
